2019: NASS lacks power to change election sequence, says Alasoadura

Senator representing Ondo Central at the Nigerian upper legislative chamber, ‘Tayo Alasoadura, has kicked against amendment of sequence of conduct of 2019 general elections.

He said at the Senate on Wednesday that the lawmakers lacked power to determine the sequence of elections.

The senator said there were more important issues demanding the attention of the legislators than how election should be conducted.

Alasoadura, who is having his first spell at the Senate, said lawmakers in support of the amendment only wanted the nation to incur more running costs.

He urged the senators to look in the area of states who are unable to pay workers salaries, killing by herdsmen, entire insecurity in the country, among others.
