#2021Budget: Go attend to disturbing security issues, Senate tells Interior Minister, Aregbesola
The Senate Committee on Interior Tuesday deferred the budget defense for the Ministry of Interior to be subjected to thorough scrutiny. The committee excused the Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, and excos of the ministry’s board from the 21 budget defense due to the rising security unrest in the country. This according to the committee is in a bid to enable the security agencies attend to the current security challenges. The decision was taken by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Kashim Shettima during his opening remark at the budget defense. In his words, “We have had an executive session with you and your Perm Sec, we deliberated on a lot of issues agitating our minds and we felt compelled being the head of the Ministry of Interior. “Offices of the Immigration services were burnt in some location, some prisons were vandalized and prisoners set free, posterity will judge us harshly if we hold on to you in this venue. “The budget will be subjected to microscopic scrutiny and if we have issues that will warrant us to invite you back be rest assured that we will do so,” he said.
