84 Million Compensation Order: Ruling may harm Nigeria’s foreign service – Perm Sec, Foreign Affairs

The Perm Sec Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Martin Uhomoibhi,  said the action of the Industrial Court to force judgment on it, was a big blow on the Ministry including Nigeria as a whole.

He said this at the graduating ceremony of the 21st Foreign Service Academy (FSA), in Abuja.

It will be recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was on Monday shut down on the order of the Nigeria Industrial Court, following its refusal to obey court ruling by paying 84 million naira compensation to a plaintiff.

The Plaintiff, Obinna Edwin Nnama, who was once a staff, had sued the ministry, on February 19, 2014, after complaining of ill treatment and non-payment of some allowances before his appointment was unjustly terminated.
