Al-Makura approves seven grazing reserves in Nasarawa

Nasarawa state government has approved seven grazing reserves across seven local government areas in the state

Nasarawa state chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Hussein Muhammed disclosed this on Tuesday during the advocacy and development of grazing reserves and stock routes in the state

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with MACBAN organized the event

The state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, gave the approval

This is part of measures by the Al-Makura led government to end recurrent clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

The Fulani settlements are located in Wamba, Awe, Keana, Obi, Doma, Nasarawa and Karu local government areas of the state.

Muhammed urged farmers in affected locations to give way for the Fulanis to settle

“The grazing reserves, especially this one in Awe was created in 1965; my advice to farmers is that they should pack out of the grazing reserves areas. No farmer should settle within the grazing area except the Fulani.”
