Alleged N400m Fraud: Metuh appears in court on wheelchair, begs to travel abroad for treatment

After appearing in court on a stretcher at the last adjourned date to stand trial for alleged money laundering, a former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic party, Olisa Metuh showed up in court on Wednesday confined to a wheelchair.

Mr. Metuh through his counsel Emeka Etiaba, informed the court that he is suffering from spinal cord compression and needs to undergo urgent surgery at Wellington Hospital, London. He prayed the court to grant him permission to travel

However, Federal Government counsel, Sylvanus Tahir vehemently opposed the application. According to him, the court had previously denied similar applications filed by the defendant. He insisted that the materials brought before the court are not sufficient enough to enable the court grant his request.

Presiding Justice Abang has adjourned the case to March 15, 2018, for continuation

Metuh is standing trial alongside his company Destra investment LTD over allegations of receiving N400 million from Sambo Dasuki, a former national security adviser, and also money laundering charges involving $2 billion.
