Ondo 2016: Appeal Court upholds Jegede as PDP candidate

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has declared Eyitayo Jegede as Peoples Democratic Party’s rightful candidate for the Ondo governorship election scheduled for November 26, 2016.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa in his Judgement upheld that, the lower court Judgment given by Justice Okon Abang dated June 29th is notorious, fraudulent and misleading, so therefore is set aside.

It will be recalled that earlier in November, the Appeal Court had reserved Judgement in a motion filed by Jegede challenging the Judgement of the lower court that ruled in favour of Jimoh Ibrahim.

The Court also upheld that, the primary election conducted by the State Chapter of the PDP loyal to Modu Sheriff, which produced Jimoh Ibrahim according to the constitution, is illegal and lacks jurisdiction.

Before now, the Supreme Court had given a go ahead to Justice Saulawa who is leading a man three-panel at the appeal court to give Judgment on the tussle between the Ibrahim and Jedege on the PDP Governorship candidate for Ondo election.

There was so much jubilation at the court premises following the court’s pronouncement of Jegede as PDP rightful candidate in the Ondo November governorship election.

Words from Jegede, “I give glory to God Almighty, I reiterate my confident again in the judiciary and I want to thank the people of Ondo state for their steadfastness, dedication and believe in me

“By the grace of God, I said before now, that God willing I will contest this election and God willing, I will win the election,” he said.
