Biafra: Court denies Kanu bail, as lead Counsel steps down
A Federal High Court in Abuja today January 29, 2016 has denied the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu bail.
The Biafra crusader who was arrested by the SSS as he returned to Nigeria, has been in detention since October as he is charged with treason.
It is also noteworthy that Kanu earlier today in a letter to the Federal High Court in Abuja, had asked that his lead counsel be replaced. The letter quoutes Kanu as saying the person who represented him in previous sittings was different from the person he had instructed.
Responding to this development, departing lead counsel through his team lawyer Vincent Obetta said “I just want to use this opportunity to say that my team – a team of 10 counsels – led by M. Udechukwu ceases to represent Nnamdi Kanu”.
