Buhari orders payment of NDDC scholarship beneficiaries as students protest in London
Beneficiaries of the Niger Delta Development Commission foreign scholarship on Monday stormed the Nigerian High Commission in London for abandoning them after promising to foot their academic bills.
Some of the students revealed that a good number of their colleagues had been de-registered from schools for not paying their fees. A doctoral student at the University of South Florida, Florida, Ifeoluwa Ayodeji, alleged that since his and other beneficiaries’ admissions, the NDDC had never paid their allowances.
He said while some parents had resorted to selling property to keep their children in school, others had been forced to take loans. He called for the intervention of the Federal Government to stop further embarrassment to the country.
