Buhari to roll out more social safety net programmes ― New SGF
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, has said President Muhammadu Buhari, has a soft spot for the suffering Nigerian masses and has taken it upon himself to ameliorate their hardships.
Mustapha said this on Wednesday in Abuja, when he assumed duties as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
He commended the immediate past acting SGF, Habiba Lawal for her sterling performance during the period she acted as the SGF following the suspension of the former SGF, Babachir Lawal, by the President over corruption allegations.
He said: “We have the responsibility of ensuring that this government succeeds. If this government does not succeed, it means that we have not done our jobs well.
“We are supposed to coordinate the policies of this government, monitor the implementation of policies and ensure that the right thing is done.”
He noted that if one touches the heartbeat of President Buhari, “he has compassion for the suffering people of this nation”.
The SGF added that the Nigerian people have been pauperised for a long time and that it was time all hands were put on deck to ensure that the government deliver on its mandate.
He said it was the desire of President Buhari that the vicious cycle of poverty that has kept the nation on its kneels is frontally addressed.
He said with cooperation of the Nigerian people, including the public servants, this turnaround could be achieved in a couple of months and years.
