Project Director of the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Dr. Abdulsalam Nasidi, said the volunteers are the first batch of 504 volunteers expected to be deployed. The majority of the volunteers, he said, were those who managed the outbreak in Lagos and Rivers states.
Mobile phone companies in Africa are partnering the African Union Commission to support the fight against Ebola in West Africa. The initiative, known as ‘AfricaAgainstEbola’ will use an SMS dedicated platform to raise funds for the deployment of African health workers to affected countries.
