Confusion at APC Convention as Delegates fight

Fighting broke out at the ongoing National Convention of All Progressives of Congress (APC) as the group loyal to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha and another loyal to Imo State APC Stakeholders clashed.APC Convention

Trouble started when the Okorocha group arrived the pavilion of the state and asked the Imo stakeholders group members to vacate the seat. The order, which was resisted by the group, led to exchange of fisticuffs as the private security guards of the Governor called “Okorocha Good Governance” descended on the opposing group. APC Convention

The newly sworn in of the Imo State APC Chairman, Hillary Eke, was forcefully thrown out of his seat alongside other members of the executives. Also, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Osita Izunazo, was not spared as he was led out of the pavilion. Similarly, the Delta State factions of the party also engaged themselves in a free-for-all as the rival group accused Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of carting away the voting materials. The situation led to the delegates hurling chairs at each other and causing a pandemonium at the convention venue. As at time of filling this story the former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole has been affirmed in a voice vote as the National Chairman of the party.

Trouble started after a group loyal to Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, arrived at the stand reserved for Imo delegates.

They asked those loyal to Eze Madumere, the deputy governor, to vacate the seats.

Osita Izunazo, organising national secretary of the APC who is opposed to Okorocha, was not spared as he was led out of the pavilion. APC Convention

Similarly the Delta State factions of the party also engaged themselves in free-for-all.

The aggrieved delegates also threw brooms, the party’s symbol,  at each other.

Earlier, Buhari said the party would emerge stronger after the convention. He appealed all those all those who are aggrieved to keep faith.

John Oyegun, former chairman of the party, thanked APC leaders for the support rendered to him.

He singled out Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the APC and Tony Mommoh, former chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) for mention.
