Reps: Bill to establish Federal Polytechnic in Gombe passes second reading
The Bill seeking the establishment of federal polytechnic Dukku in Gombe state on Monday passes second reading in the House of Representatives.
The bill was sponsored by Hon. Aishatu Jibril Dukku representing Dukku/Nafada federal constituency and seconded by Hon. Austin Chukwukere representing Ideata North/South federal constituency of Imo state.
Hon. Dukku, while leading a debate on the bill noted that Gombe state was created in 1996 alongside five other states of the federation, and all the other five states have a federal polytechnic each.
She stated further that the polytechnic, when established, will provide competent technicians and artisans as well as produce citizens with middle-class manpower.
The bill was referred to the House Committee on Tertiary Education, for further legislative functions.
