Fayose spoke on the heel of violence that characterized welcome rally for the APC’s candidate in the July 20 gubernatorial election in the state, a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, on June 1 in his home town, Isan Ekiti.

A policeman reportedly shot a renowned politician in at the gathering, Opeyemi Bamidele, causing panic and eventual cancellation of planned take-off of Fayemi’s campaign in the state on Monday June 4.

The governor said: “Alert and alarm becomes very necessary because of the meeting held at Isan Ekiti the home town of Dr Kayode Fayemi, the flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress in the July 20, 2018 gubernatorial election in Ekiti. They have hired one Agbara to kill one or two Ekiti indigenes and lay their bodies in the houses of PDP either or around Fajuyi Park or near the Government House in an attempt to link me and my party to violence.

“We take exception to this. We won’t be part of any violence act. And, we are saying that Ekiti has been very peaceful in the last four years. Therefore, we want to enjoy this peace, our ambition is not worthy of the blood of any Ekiti indigene.

“I therefore call on the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to be vigilant, and Ekiti people to be on their watch. Your life and my life will not be a sacrifice for this election.

“I want to plead with everybody to please take note that violence is not an option in this election…”
