FEC approves N358bn for Abuja-Makurdi road

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved a contract worth $995 million (about N358 billion) for the construction of phase two of the Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga- Lafia-Makurdi road. The contract is a precondition by the Chinese government for Nigeria to access a loan in the value of the amount from the China EXIM Bank.

The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing has been discussing the modalities for obtaining the loan. Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who disclosed this yesterday after the FEC meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari, said the 268.5kilometer-road project consist of 16.0 kilometre -Lafia bye pass and another 251.7kilometer from Ninth mile through Otukpo to Makurdi.
