Minute-by-Minute: Ghanaian President visits Buhari in Aso Rock
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja where they both met behind closed-doors.
Addressing State House correspondents later, the Ghanaian leader affirmed that Nigeria was well.
“I’m very happy to have had this opportunity to come and I’m going back to Ghana very fortified to be able to tell the Ghanaians that our big brother Nigeria is well and things are well in hand here,’’ he stated.
He said all Ghanaians were happy about President Buhari’s return from his recent medical vacation in London as well as his wellbeing.
Akufo-Addo said he and Buhari discussed bilateral issues affecting both nations and reviewed ECOWAS-related matters.
“I came from Accra today to come and visit my senior brother, President Muhammadu Buhari, all of us have been anxious about his wellbeing and with very good news to hear that he had returned. But, we are Africans, and I have to come and see him for myself how he was and I’m very delighted to see that he came back very vigorous and as always very engaged on the issues of our day.
“So, we had a good half an hour together reviewing matters both in Ghana and in Nigeria as well as immediate matters to do with what is going in the ECOWAS community,” the Ghanaian president said.
President Buhari’s spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, told journalists that both leaders’ meeting would further strengthen bilateral relations between both countries, saying it was significant that “big countries in West Africa are maintaining such cordial relationships.”
