The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has appointed Maj-Gen. Iliyasu Isah Abbah as his successor a the Commander of the Muliti-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF).
The new Commander of MNJTF was among the 334 senior officers redeployed on Wednesday by Buratai.
According to the citation released on Thursday by the Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Suman, Abbah was granted Regular Combatant Commission on 22 June 1985 in the rank of second lieutenant with seniority in the same rank effective from 5 June 1982.
He is of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps.
He attended several courses which include; Young Officers’ Course (Infantry), Mortar Platoon Commanders’ Course, Advanced Range Management Course, Junior Course, Senior Course, Mechanical Transport Officers’ Course, Company Commanders’ Course,
Commanding Officers Course and National Defence Course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and an Advanced Diploma in Public Administration.
