JOHESU ridicule Health Minister over controversial recall of FMC Owerri MD

The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) on Friday, October 21, 2016 during a press briefing in Abuja accused the Minister of State for Health, Osagie Ehanire of forcefully recalling the suspended Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri, Dr. Angela Uwakwem.

JOHESU President, Biobelemoye Josaiah divulged information that reached the union was that the minister of state for health was the mastermind behind the scene to reinstate Dr. Angela to enable her destroy factual evidence that could be used in the 18 count charge instituted against her in a criminal case by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

His words: “The attention of JOHESU has been drawn to the forceful reinstatement of the erstwhile suspended Medical Director of FMC, Owerri, Dr. Angela Uwakwem, ostensibly to enable her destroy factual evidence that could be used against her in the on-going criminal proceedings in court.”

He further stated that “information at our disposal points to the Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ehanire as being behind this clandestine move of her reinstatement despite the prima-facie case established against her by the EFCC.”

The union therefore called on the president and well-meaning Nigerians to caution the minister and interdict the suspension of Dr. Angela to pave way for effective investigation into the allegations leveled against her.
