PDP: Makarfi opens up on 2019 strategy
The factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ahmed Makarfi has stated that the opposition party must be united first in order to regain the leadership of Nigeria. Makarfi reiterated this at the national executive committee meeting of the party in Abuja. The expanded caucus meeting had so many of the party’s big wigs in attendance – hosting the likes of newly elected chairman of PDP governors forum, Gov. Ayodele Fayose; Senate and house of representatives minority leaders, Godswill Akpabio and Leo Ogor. Attempts to broker peace between Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and the chairman of the national caretaker committee of the party, Ahmed Makarfi, by the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have hit a brick wall in recent times, with none of the factions ready for reconciliation. This has also been worsened by conflicting court judgments, leading to so many members decamping to the All Progressives Congress (APC), leaving the erstwhile majority party in a divided state.
