N1.65bn Fraud: Court adjourns ex-Taraba State governor, Jolly Nyame’s trial
The trial of former Taraba state governor, Rev. Jolly Nyame, has again been adjourned. The trial which held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in the Gudu division of an FCT High Court, was meant for the adoption of final written addresses of the prosecution and defence counsels.
However, counsel to the defendant, Mr Hassan Fajimite told the court that they could not file their reply on point of law because the “prosecution filed their written address out of time.’’
The prosecution counsel who filled in the written address on Jan 10, 2018, instead of the specified December 31st date, accepted full blame.
The presiding Judge, Justice Adebukola Banjoko adjourned the trial to February 28th, 2018, in other to give the prosecution and defence time to complete the processes.
The two-time governor arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is facing a 41 count charge of alleged stealing and diversion of N1.64bn state funds
