BREAKING: Senate confirms Emefiele’s re-appointment a day after screening

The Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed the re-appointment of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

It took the Senate one week to read, screen and confirm his appointment.
His will retain the position for the next five years.
His appointment followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions presented by Senator Rafiu Adebayo during Thursday’s plenary.
The committee cleared Mr Emefiele on Wednesday after he was screened and asked questions relating to the nation’s economy.
