ECOWAS commends Nigeria Police on election security
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) facts finding mission paid a courtesy visit to the inspector general of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, mni, on 7 November 2018 at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The Inspector general of Police expressed his delight in the visit and also acquitted the delegation with strength, administration and spread of the police force across Nigeria. He also assured them of the readiness and preparedness of the Nigerian Police in averting any crisis come 2019 election as well as ensuring a secure environment for free and fair elections.
In the same vein, Mr Mohammed Konte, leader of the ECOWAS delegates, commended the achievements of the police in clinching and sustaining peace in the country, stating the importance of Election security and need for peaceful election in Nigeria.
Mr Konte also assured the IGP of ECOWAS commitment in playing its role as well as exacting doggedness in ensuring peaceful 2019 election.
He concluded by commending the police on achievements in election security recorded in the States Governorship Elections, stating it is a huge milestone.
