Supplementary election: Nigeria police restricts movement of commuters in Abuja

The Nigeria Police has ordered restriction of movement for commuters in the three Area Councils scheduled to hold supplementary elections in Abuja.

This was contained in a statement signed by FCT Command Spokesman, ASP Danjuma Gajere Tanimu, on Friday. The area councils affected are Bwari, Kuje and Kwali.

The statement reads:

“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the general public that sequel to the Area Council rerun elections in some affected Councils which include Bwari, Kuje and Kwali in the FCT slated for Saturday 23rd March, 2019.

“Accordingly, there will be the restriction of vehicular movement in all the wards affected in Bwari, Kuje and Kwali Area Council, from 6:00am to 6:00pm.

“Furthermore, Ambulances, Fire Service trucks and others on essential duties will be exempted from this enforcement due to the sensitive nature of their services to the public.

“While regretting the inconveniences this restriction might course the affected FCT resident, the Command want to assure residents that proactive security measures have been put in place for peaceful conduct of the supplementary election.
