Nigeria does not need IMF intervention-Lagarde
The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Christine Lagarde, on Tuesday in Abuja said she did not come to Nigeria to negotiate a loan with conditionalities, adding that the country does not require the intervention of the fund.
Lagarde, who spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, said she came to Nigeria to discuss the challenges posed by the fall in oil price, the need to apply fiscal discipline, advise on improving the country’s tax and debt management regime, and seek ways on how the IMF could assist Nigeria in these areas.
