Why Nigerian govt approved N1billion for Kaduna Airport Terminal
The Federal Executive Council, FEC, has approved the closure of Abuja airport terminal for of six weeks.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, told state house correspondents after the FEC meeting that the decision to shut the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja was approved by the council so the runway could be repaired.
The Minister also revealed that the council approved N1 billion for the conclusion of the Kaduna Airport terminal, which is to be used as an alternative for the Abuja airport.
“Today in the wisdom of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the completion of Kaduna Airport terminal building, which of course was awarded in 2011 and commence in 2012. During the rehabilitation of the terminal building, the consultant noted some structural damages to the structure … to the building itself and then it increased the scope of work to be done to put it to use”.
It would be recalled that the contract was awarded by the then Jonathan led government.
