Nigerian govt rewards 56 inventors in Science, Technology

The Federal Government of Nigeria has given out cheques to 56 outstanding inventors selected by the Presidential Standing Committee on Innovations and Inventions for the year 2016.

One of the beneficiaries of the grant, Ezekiel Izuogu said he appreciates
the recognition given to him by the Federal Government but he should have
been given 1 Billion for his work and not the N10m he was given.

Izuogu said the money is too small to add impact to the project he is
currently involved in.

He said the Former President of the United States of America, Barrack
Obama gave $2b to two companies to manufacture what he is working on and
the companies could not succeed.

Izuogu also said Nigerian Inventors are now recognised by Countries like
Russia, South Africa, Korea, Japan, New Zealand and Canada.

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu said the grant was
set up in October 2005 and 188 Nigerians have benefited from it.

He also said the aim of the grant is to encourage and promote innovations
in science and Technology to stimulate the interest of Nigerians for
National Development.

The Minister also said the purpose of showcasing the inventions is to
promote them in Nigeria and also exported to other Countries to promote
Made-in-Nigeria goods.

price winner who was the Sandra Aguebor popularly known as the Lady
Mechanic got five million naira, the third price winner got four million
