How Nigerian Reps celebrated female lawmakers on Int’l Women’s Day
As the the world marks the International Women’s Day, some federal lawmakers have called on the leadership of the House of Representatives to appoint all the female legislators chair of committees.
Hon. Muhammad Wudil representing Wudil/Garko federal constituency of Kano state said, “ Mr. Speaker, I am calling on You, that you should consider making all women in this chamber chairmen of committees so that we can be gender friendly.“
Hon Iriase Pally acknowledged the role of women in homes building.
“i say without any contradiction that the women folk are more reliable and responsible because there isn’t any man who doesn’t come from a woman.”
Making her contribution, Hon Aishatu Dukku thanked the men for given woman the opportunity to attend school, be empowered and get married. She also advised the men to see women as their help meets whose rights to education must not be violate.
Hon Ayo Omidiran, on her part said she is celebrating real men; men who are always there for their woman.
“Supporting women isn’t about allowing your wife to do this and that, no, that can be your personal thing. It can be because of your makeup, if you feel you are man enough, your wife can do anything and you will support her.
“Today I am celebrating the men who are real men, men who support women.”
He appreciated her constituents who have been going women the mandate to represent the since the return of democracy in 1999.
