Nude pictures on Bilyaminu’s phone sparked fight that caused his death, witness tells court

Maryam Sanda who is standing trial for allegedly killing her husband Bilyaminu Bello has revealed in a statement she made before the police that several nude pictures she found on her husband’s phone caused the fight which eventually led to his death.
The sixth prosecution witness, Joseephin Onyinyedu who is also a police officer involved in the investigation of Bilyaminu’s death, said Sanda had written the said statement by herself without coercion.

In the statement which was tendered as an exhibit before the FCT High court in Maitama, Sanda said she saw nude pictures a lady had sent to her husband’s phone and it resulted in a fight. according to Sanda, during the fight in their Maitama residence, Bilyaminu had slipped on a wet floor and fell over a broken shisha pot. She added that she drove the deceased to the general hospital in Maitama where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Counsel representing the prosecution, Fidelis Ogbobe, sought to tender a medical report which was issued by a doctor at the general hospital in Maitama and addressed to the DPO.

Mr Olusegun Jolaawo, Sanda’s lawyer, objected to the admissibility of the documents, stating that only the doctor who is the maker of the document can identify and tender the said report as an exhibit before the court.

Justice Yusuf Halilu ruled that the witness was in a good position to tender the document since the report was addressed to the police.
Meanwhile, Mr Jolaawo has revealed that he is set to file a no case application before the court.

The case has been adjourned to February 27, for continuation
