Full Video: Panic as ex-PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh collapses in court

Former National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh on Monday collapsed in court at the commencement of his trial.

Metuh who is standing trial bordering on money laundering charges at the federal high court in Abuja was said to have slumped in an attempt to enter the duck when his case was called.
Medical personnel based in the federal high court were invited to examine Mr Metuh.

the Judge, Justice Okon Abang stood down the matter for about 29 minutes before resuming sitting at about 9:30 am.

At the resumed trial, Justice Abang asked the court clerks to give a recount of the incident that happened earlier.

Dorcas Danjuma, one of the clerks said “when the case was called, my lord asked the defendant to sit where he was and not to border entering the dock. barrister Doyin communicated to the first Defendant and his P.A indicated to him that he should not bother to enter inside the dock.
“He normally sits in front of the dock and not inside. then he tried to enter the dock by himself before he fell down.”

Justice Abang asked the first defendant counsel, Mr Emeka Etiaba to call its 11th witness for cross-examination.

Mr Etiaba who tried to try to give a recount of what had happened earlier but was denied made an application to withdraw from the case.
“At this point, I apply to withdraw my appearance from this trial.
“I cannot go on while my client is lying ill in court”.

The judge refused to grant the application of Metuh’s counsel.
A doctor who simply identified herself as Adaora told the court that the former NSA should be taken to see his doctor.

Counsel representing the Federal Government, Mr Sylvanus Tahir, did not oppose the application.

Mr Tochukwu Nwanbufor representing the 2nd defendant, Destra investment LTD did not oppose the application

When asked to respond whether or not he was opposed to the application, Mr Etiaba reminded the court that he has withdrawn from the trial.

Justice Abang in his ruling said that the learned silk was rude to the court

“I consider the conduct of Mr Emeka Etiaba as being rude to the court”
The judge allowed the application which sought to take the first defendant to the hospital for proper medical care. he adjourned the matter until may 22, 2018.
