Onnoghen fails to stop CCT trail at Appeal court

The court said the charges filed against Onnoghen are criminal in nature, therefore, the proceedings before the CCT cannot be stopped.

The CCT had on Jan 28th suspended its proceedings pending the decision of the appellate court.

the recent ruling implies that the CCT can now proceed with the trial of the chief justice for alleged false asset declaration.

Meanwhile, Onnoghen has filed a suit before the Court of Appeal challenging his suspension.

based his appeal on four grounds, adding that he was not given a fair hearing by the CCT before the order to swear-in Justice Tanko Muhammad was given.
