Explain how you spent N2.1b collected from ONSA account, court tells Dokpesi

Chairman emeritus of DAAR Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi has been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja to defend himself over allegations that he received N2.1billion from the office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, in 2015 for doing nothing.

On December 9, 2015, Dokpesi and his company, Daar Holding and Investment Limited, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a seven-count money laundering charge, through his counsel, Kanu Agabi SAN, told the court on May 28, 2018, that he had no case to answer.

However, the EFCC, represented by Oluwaleke Atolagbe, argued that prosecution has made a very strong prima facie case against the defendants.

In a brief ruling delivered by justice Tsoho, his no-case submission was “struck out”.

He went further to say that “the defendant should explain his own side of the matter”.

The case has been adjourned to February 20, 2019, for Dokpesi to open his defence.
