Recession: Nigeria to reflate economy using ICT – Communication Minister
The Federal Ministry of Communication has made known its plan to bring in Internet, powered technologies into solving the current economic crises ravaging the country.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Sunday Echono, in Abuja on January 25, 2017 during a meeting with the Alliance for Affordable Internet.
“Giving the ability of the internet to significantly improve efficiency and also uplift the various sectors in the economy, we believe that this road-map, the broadband plan that is currently under implementation and our e-government master plan will together form the fulcrum for driving our moves to diversify our national economy from oil into other sectors using ICT,” Echono said.
He added that there is a consensus in the current government to use ICT to drive Nigeria out of the current recession owing to its ability to attract mass of youth population unlike the much propagated Agriculture and Mine industry.
