Reps move to establish Chartered Institute of Directors

Hon. Nicholas Ossai moved a motion to establish the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Directors in the House of Representative on 18 October 2018.

He is representing  Ndokwa/Ukwani, Delta State.

This organization is to serve as a regulatory body for private and public sectors. They will determine the knowledge and skills required by persons who desire to be directors.

Subsequently, the Purpose of this institute is “to promote the practice of directorship in public and private sectors in challenging and supporting environment. Secondly, it is to provide well-educated directors, specialists with critical thinking and creative problem-solving skill.”

He went on to question the credibility and creativity of individuals who wish to take up the responsibility of a director. He stressed the importance of an organizational balance and mission in any industry.

“It is this institution that will be able to impart that knowledge, to be able to meet complete corporate organizational goals and missions.”
