Saraki, National Assembly members honour brave female lawmaker, Boma Goodhead

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday August 8 specially thanked member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Boma Goodhead who represents Asalga/Akulga federal constituency for the brave role she played during National Assembly blockade by operatives of the Department of State Services on Tuesday August 7.

At a World Press Briefing on the illegal invasion on the critical democratic institution, Saraki also thanked his colleagues who stood by the constitution, the international community and the general public who kept watch over the development while it last.

“I want to thank from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of the Speaker and all of us, our colleagues senators, members of the House of Representatives, our very loyal and dedicated National Assembly staff for standing to be counted for democracy during yesterday’s siege.

“I thank the thousands who monitored the situation on the radio, television, social media for lending their voices on the siege, thereby sending a clear message to those that hatched this plot, that the Nigerian public will not buy this act of gangsterism, using instrument of state such as the DSS…

Saraki specifically appreciated the member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Boma Goodhead who showed uncommon courage by daring the DSS operatives to shoot her, during the siege.

She didn’t only charge the operatives, she forced her way through the gun-wielding officers and led others into the National Assembly chambers.
