Senate queries BPE’s sale of $8.2b power plants for $5.8b to Canadian firm
The Nigerian Senate has began investigating the alleged illegality in the transaction of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) with the Hydro International Nigeria Limited also known as Manitoba with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
In a motion captioned “Unwholesome practices by Manitoba under the direction and control of BPE” moved by Senator Muhammed Hassan (PDP, Yobe South) and backed by five Senators, he alleged that the contract prepared by the BPE for the management of TCN by Manitoba is full of illegalities and violates the laws of Nigeria.
